About John Balchunas
John Balchunas is a seasoned leader in workforce development with extensive experience in aligning industry, education, and public policy to support biopharmaceutical talent pipelines. As Workforce Director at NIIMBL, he focuses on national strategies to address workforce needs in biomanufacturing.

Previously, John served as Assistant Director of Professional Development at North Carolina State University’s Biomanufacturing Training & Education Center (BTEC) and as Workforce Director at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, where he developed partnerships and programs to meet the evolving needs of the biopharma industry. John holds an M.S. in Technical Communication and was a 2012-2013 Aspen Institute Marano Fellow.
